2 days ago I had a bowel movement and was shocked to see it was covered in blood. It wasn’t mixed in it was just on the top. When I wiped there was a small amount on the tissue also. Today it happened again but not as much. I do have external hemorrhoids that don’t hurt but they’ve been there for awhile. I wonder if I could have internal hemorrhoids. I have a burning feeling in that area but nothing major. When I had the first bowel movement I had gas and had to go 3 times resulting in the last stool being bloody. I wasn’t constipated so that wasn’t the problem. I have no health insurance and am worried that I need a colonoscopy
Everyones answers have been so comforting to me. Thank you all so much. If you ever post a question I hope that you get comfort from the yahoo answer community also.
I think I just had my first hemorrhoid. At first, I thought it was just irritation from wiping too hard. However this was about 2 days ago, I’ve been having burning and itching around my anus ever since. And I can feel a small hard bump right at the rim of my anus. Does this mean it’s an external hemorrhoid? I changed my diet today to include more fiber and water. But I haven’t bought any OTC medicine, such as Preparation H, I haven’t even tried any ice.
Should I try getting the Preparation H cream or suppository? Is there anything else I can do to help fix this? And if I stay on top of treating my hemorrhoid. How long will it take go away?
I don’t have health insurance, so seeing a doctor is out of the question.
I’m 18 and have been having hemorrhoids for about 2 years. I had constipation which led to hemorrhoid. Blood come out with stool whenever I have a bowel movement. The blood doesn’t come out a lot, like only 5 drops, sometime more. This worried me so I decided to see a doctor. The doctor told me I have external and minor internal hemorrhoid. The strange thing is that i feel no pain, irritation or discomfort. The doctor suggested I take stool softener, eat more fiber food, and take fiber supplement. After following that doctor suggestions the bleeding stop and thing go back to normal. I became for aware of my eating, so I wont have that problem again. After 6 months my bleeding from the hemorrhoid was back. I kept my bleeding to a minimum, by taking more fiber supplement and stool softener. It doesn’t really stop the bleeding.
I am really frustrated by hemorrhoids, so decided to research surgeries on hemorrhoid. The one seem to be best for me is the laser surgery where they burn the hemorrhoid with a laser. This is a simple procedure and recovery is quick.
My question is how much would this surgery cost? I have insurance so hopefully they will cover this.
I’ve had an external hemorrhoid for a couple of years…I’ve changed my diet long ago and it hasn’t bled or caused me any pain for at least a year. Butt it still itches. And it’s so unsexy.
What kind of a doctor do you see to get this removed? Regular PCP? Gynie? Dermatologist? And do they numb you first? Does insurance typically cover it?
Thanks for real replies. Being a grown-up sucks.
Okay, before I start, this may not be for the faint of heart. Just a Warning.
So I’ve been having these problems for quite some time. It started way back in May…of 2007. I was noticing that there was a lot of blood on the toilet paper after I had gone the bathroom. It was pretty much more or less just blood on the toilet paper until one time the water in the bowl was pretty much completely red. That only happened once. I did go to the doctor and all he said was it’s not external hemorrhoids and gave me a number to a gasteronologist. Only problem is is that I do not have health insurance. So I never went. Now The bleeding kept up for some time but it has stopped in the past few months. Only thing now is that I occasionally get pains in my lower abdomen and my stool can be any from diarrhea to solid but soft consistancy, or sometimes both in one sitting. For the first time in my life I’m passing stools…or rather a stool. It sticks completely together, for the most part, and is one long deposit. I don’t mean to be disgusting but it’s hard with the topic at hand.
Well, I know IBS is something that is in my family. My cousin got treated for Chron’s after being severely sick for about a good chunck of a year but I don’t believe she was ever tested positive for Chron’s. Either way, this stuff does run through my family. My doctor kind of sucks in the sense that he really doesn’t seem interested in what I, the patient, has to say. I think it’s time to change Doc’s.
