hi there… i’m 22, and when i was 21 i think i got an external hemorrhoid. not to sound nasty, but i was constipated for a while and then got bouts of diarrhea. the hemorrhoid, for the most part, stays inside but you can feel it like a lump right around my rectum. when i strain all the tissues around my rectum become inflamed and sort of come out a bit while i am going to the bathroom.

this is for the med community out there —

do you think this may be serious because i am younger?
do i have to go to a doctor (i’ve read online there is no cure, and to just treat symptoms).. .and if so, what sort of doctor should i go to?
are there any pretty good treatments besides preparation h?

also, the hemorrhoid does not bother me at all… not itching, burning, etc. it is not even discolored, it just looks pink like the rest of the tissue. i am 22, 5’5" and weigh 140 and eat healthy regularly.

I’m 13 years old, and I think I have a hemorrhoid. I’ve researched them, because I was having the symptoms. (Itchy anus, trouble going to the bathroom.) I used a mirror to check it out, and what do you know! It looks like a big hemorrhoid to me.

I’m actually scared. I know it’s no biggie, I’m not going to die, etc. But how to I tell my mom?
"Hey mom. I have a hemorrhoid."
Really?
I’ve heard Preparation H isn’t really treatment. It just makes the swelling go down and give instant relief. If so, how to I make it go away for good?

Thanks so much for your help.

I had my daughter 2 months ago, and now i have hemorriods. bleeding ones. it really freaks me out i mean there isnt a ton of blood maybe about the same amount as a small cut. i want to change my diet but i have to be carefull with high fiber food exspcially the veggies because they cause her a lot of gas. can i take a fiber supplement? what kind of fruits are the highest fiber content? its pretty embarassing to tell everyone on yahoo you have hemorrhoids! but what is a good treatment. i read hyrdrocortisone to reduce swelling but if its internal.. well how does that work. ew. lol thank you guys.
oh and i have really no itching or pain. just blood when i go to the bathroom. but i made my mom look (what a good mom, to look at her 22 year old daughter behind) and she said she can see them. so i guess thats what it is. it kinda feels like tearing when im going to the bathroom. ok seriously sorry if its TMI.

Since yesterday I’ve felt this pain in my butt I had my girlfriend look at it and she found a picture of what she said it looked exactly like, a thrombosed hemorrhoid, plus I was diagnosed with hemorrhoids; anyways, tonight while going to the bathroom it burst and there was blood in the water and all over the TP. Do I need to go to the Emergency Room? I already have a doctor’s appointment on Friday, today is Monday, do I need to see a doc before that? Is there a chance I could bleed to death if I don’t visit a doctor before friday?
The blood looks bright red but if i hold it on the wound long enough it looks similar to a bloody nose blood, keep in mind this happened maybe an hour ago.
How long did your bleeding last?

I was told I needed to have it taken care of and after the first one I had no more bleeding but the dr. wanted to get all four. Since the second one was ligated I ended up with worse and more bleeding then I had even before the first one was taken care of. I’ve been eating fiber, using liquid glycerine suppositories and I’m still having trouble and it’s been six weeks since. I’m due to go back on Monday to see why I’m still bleeding but I’m hesitent to have the other two ligated cause we are going away for the summer and I have to wait four weeks between ligations and I don’t want to fix something that isn’t broken or bleeding at the present time. I’m also bleeding rectally when I’m not even going to the bathroom and I shouldn’t be using pads since my hysterectomy. Any advice?
My hysterectomy was over seven years ago and I’m so glad I had it done. For the first time all my life I’m not dealing with terrible longterm bleeding that I couldn’t be away from a bathroom more than 20 minutes at a time. I’ve had hemorrhoids since I was a teen and they just got worse over the years from me being on powerful pain killers. The only thing I deal with now is chronic pain from a ruptured disc and the bleeding hemorrhoids.
