I am 33 weeks pregnant with twins, I was just released from the hospital for kidney stones and I guess while I was in there I developed a very large external hemorrhoid ( spelling?) I have never had them, even with my first three pregnancies. And amongst the pain of the kidney stones, I never made a big deal of having one. Now that I am home, it has started to bleed and hurts so bad that it hurts to walk. I tried warm baths, and I got some little wipes made by tucks, but have already used an entire container and they say not to use more than 6 a day. My doctor is gone this weekend and a different doctor is on call, I don’t like him and I only want to call if there is absolutly no other choice. Did anyone experience this or know of someone who did, and are there some little tips or home remedies that can help soothe or even make it GO AWAY!!! Between the kidney stones and this, delevering twins is looking easier and easier.
Thank you so very much, everyone for the great answers. For those who said to push it back up in, I am actually going to try that, and if it does not work, I will suck it up and call the on call doctor. If I go to the ER, they will call him anyway. I am just prepping myself for the pain I am thinking will occur, and thank God, my husband is a wonderful man, who said he would help, he told me it might be kind of uneasy for me, but he wants to help…he said, come on now, we have kids, we can share this too, lol. After the kids are in bed I am going to give it a shot…here we go, wish me luck. Thanks again.

Hi everyone,

I’m 40 weeks pregnant I’ve been very blessed to have a symptom-free pregnancy up until now… However 2 days before my estimated due date (EDD) I woke up in the morning and my rectal area was extremely itchy and painful feeling… I’ve never felt anything like this ever before and quite frankly I’m worried about it! I don’t know how to describe this without being very straight-forward so pardon me if my language offends anyone :) Basically the area itches, burns, and hurts. I looked at it in the mirror (as best as I could anyway!) And it looks like an inflamed "butthole wrikle" or possibly a swollen vein. It’s only on one side and a very small area (thank God!)

I just always thought that hemorrhoids were a big external "pocket"- which is why I’m wondering if this could be a small hemorrhoid from the baby having dropped into the birth canal?? (If it makes a difference: I’ve been dilated to 2 cm. for 2 weeks now with 70-80% effacement)

-I’m wondering if a vaginal child birth will aggravate this problem further?
-I’m also wondering if this will completely resolve on it’s own following the birth, or will I need to see a doctor about it- and my question is who do I see about it?
-Also, what remedies can I use in the meantime?

I work 10 hours a day five days a week and I am 36 weeks pregnant my job is both physically and mentally stressful. Today I came home and had the "urge" to go. Usually I have a little discomfort but nothing like what I had today, I was bleeding and it hurt so bad I had to bite a towel to stop from screaming. So my mother gives me one of her tramadol without even thinking about it I gobble that thing down hopeing to god it’ll relieve some of the pain that I’m having. It does a little but it also cause’s me to have diarrhea. That which brought even more pain and blood to the point of were I couldn’t hardly sit or stand. I go to my ob tomorrow, while I know that she’ll check me out and give me something for the pain I’m worried that I could get in trouble for taking a prescription medicine that’s not mine. It’s not technically a narcotic so there’s really no possibility of someone abusing this medicine, but still it says it’s derived from codiene. I know I should tell my dr about it but after my mother said she shouldn’t of given it to me it’s got me freaked out. At this point I’m almost thinking about not saying anything to my Dr. because what if they call cps? Wow..if my son was taken, I don’t know how I could deal with that. Any advice? Thanks.
Eeek! I never thought about how much it would hurt after labor…
