I’m a 16 year old guy and I’ve had external hemorrhoids for about a year now; I don’t know how I got them because I have a good diet and I’m not overweight.
Anyway, I’ve tried all the creams and stuff but nothing has made a great impact. So I think I need to go and see my doctor but I don’t know because it’s probably going to be embarrassing obviously.
Does anyone know anything else that would work?
Also, would I need my parent’s consent (in the UK) to have surgery for it or something?
Bit of a long story. About five weeks ago I had a bout with stubborn constipation that started about two weeks before my period. I took Miralax for a while as well as Benefiber, and I’m 90% certain I’m finally back to normal. About a week ago I switched to Citrucel tablets, as they said it didn’t cause any gas. Since my constipation I had been experiencing increased gas and the sensation that I had to pass gas but couldn’t, which was centered in my lower back. It’s a feeling of uncomfortable pressure.
Unfortunately, this pressure sensation just doesn’t want to go away. I’m still taking Citrucel as I (A) get very little fiber in my diet and (B) was NEVER very regular and (C) have internal hemorrhoids from my constipation struggle (I strained, not realizing I shouldn’t).
I also switched to a new birth control pill (went from Seasonale to Lybrel, which lets you never have a period). I’m wondering if any of these things could be causing the problem? I feel pretty lost…it stinks.
It may be important to note that Lybrel contains lower amounts of hormones than the previous bc pill I was taking, Seasonale, and that I have experienced two incidents of spotting since I’ve started Lybrel. I’m also having on and off nausea which may be related to Lybrel, since that is a very common symptom.
Riiight. I did think of that. But its been, like, 3-4 weeks now.
This is extremely embarrassing to ask, but anyway…
About a year ago I noticed a little blood on the toilet paper after I took quite a large poop, nothing major, it was just a little spot so I thought nothing of it.
I’ve always had difficulty passing a stool, and have usually had to strain really hard to get one out, causing quite a lot of pain. After I’ve done this, however, there is no pain whatsoever.
Over the past two weeks or so, I’ve had extra trouble passing a stool, due to straining so hard. After I’ve done, I noticed blood dripping in the toilet and bright, red blood on the toilet paper.
About an hour ago I took a very hard poop, and there was quite a lot of blood. I tried to minimize my straining as low as possible, and hardly didn’t at all, but there was still blood.
I’ve looked into this I figure I either have an anal fissure, or hemorrhoids. I’ve felt around for a lump and there doesn’t appear to be one on on my exterior. There’s so pain or blood after I’ve passed a stool. Does this sound more like an anal fissure or an internal hemorrhoid?
I’m extremely terrified right now. Depending on which I’ve got, is it dangerous, and will it go away on its own? What changes in my diet do I need to take? I’ve tried drinking quite a lot of water and eating sources of fiber over the past couple of days to get my stools normal, but this hasn’t worked so far. I don’t want to tell my parents. I’m really hoping this will go away on its own, I’m just scared.
Thank you.
If worst comes to worst, and I have to tell my parents, I’ll tell my mum. How can I tell her about this? What should I say?
I suddenly got this bad hemorrhoid for no apparent reason. It’s the worst one I ever had. It’s been there for about a week now. It looks like 2 marble-sized balls right next to each other. Nasty looking. I’m surprised they haven’t bled.
Anyways, I wasn’t doing anything specifically to cause this hemorrhoid to form. Except for sitting a lot. I sit a LOT in front of my computer. At around the same time my hemorrhoid formed, I also noticed that I became constipated. No, I never had any painful bowel movement that caused this hemorrhoid. All of my bowel movements lately (before the hemorrhoid formed) were smooth and easy. I never had to strain much at all.
For over a month now, I’ve been on a rice and chicken (with teriyaki) diet. I thought that maybe if I ate more like japanese people do, then maybe I’d be healthier too. I was fine all month until recently. I ate a mixture of white and brown rice. But all I’ve been eating lately is white because it taste better with teriyaki sauce. Then I read online that rice (especially white) can cause constipation.
Here’s my point…is this a coincidence that I’m constipated at the same time that my hemorrhoid started? Note that the hemorrhoid didn’t appear until AFTER I became constipated. Can an external hemorrhoid cause the bowels to not function properly? Or could it simply be the rice that caused the constipation? I wish I could cure both problems. I’ve been miserable lately. I even took a laxative yesterday and it still didn’t seem to solve the constipation problem. I went about 4 times from it, but it was just watery stuff that poured out. Nothing solid.
I never wanted to have to go to a doctor for anything embarrassing like these problems. So I’m hoping they get better on their own.
This is very embarrassing to talk about, but I really need to know what it is so I can relax and stop stressing. I’ve noticed while using the bathroom, that I have a lump around the opening of my anus. It seems like it’s external but it can go inside as well but it comes out a bit. I’m not sure if I’m describing this right, lol. It’s about the size of a pea or smaller, isn’t hard, and isn’t tender or sore to the touch. The colour is red, in some light it looks a wee bit purplish but it may just be my lighting, it basically looks red. I am experiencing no discomfort or itchiness at all, it’s just a lump there. I was wondering what this may be? I am a very clean person, I wash my vaginal and anus area each time I use the bathroom, I consume a lot of fiber in my diet, I drink a lot of fluids. This appeared a few days ago and it is really worrying me. I have been using Triamcinolone cream on it today that I have in hopes that it will reduce the swelling and rid me of the problem. I am only 18 years old, I’m not sure if it is hemorrhoids, or if it’s something else, or something that will disappear within a few days and not show up again (would be nice if it didn’t). I’m currently trying to make sure I lay on my left side instead of sitting, and I try to get up and walk around in case it is an external hemorrhoid. Can anyone help? I’m willing to provide more details if needed. Please and thank you!
Oh, I do tend to eat a lot of spices and have been consuming them a lot over the past month.
