I have an internal hemorrhoid Stage I. My proctologist insists that there is no treatment for that and only gave me a Dieting List and suggested light exercise. He also mentioned that since there is no blood in my stools yet there is no point in removing it surgically. He says that it can only be dealt with later on when the hemorrhoid is External. But I really wouldn’t want that to happen. So is there another treatment in order to prevent or even possibly cure the hemorrhoid? Doctors’ answers would be much appreciated and those who have similar diagnosis. Thank you.
No, I’m not overweght and never was. I’m hardly 140 Lbs.

About a month ago I went to the ER for abdominal pain that turned out to be a kidney infection, urinary tract infection and a kidney stone. While in the ER, I had an enema that injected fluids throughout my rectum. About a week after being in the ER, I noticed blood clot looking things in my blood. Over the next few weeks, there would be blood in my stool every so often, but I was naive and didn’t really realize it was blood until recently. A couple nights ago I looked at my stool and really started noticing blood.

I went to the doctor today and he did a couple tests, one of which he used his fingers to feel around my rectum. I had a blood test done as well. The doctor didn’t have any conclusive diagnosis because he was unable to use a large tool that would allow him to look into the rectum. I am having that done within the next couple days.

My questions are:

Will a colonoscopy have to be completed even if they find out its just hemorrhoids? - My mom had a benign bump on her colon that was found through a colonoscopy and my sister had a colonoscopy done when she had similar symptoms to mine that ended up being hemorrhoids and she was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome. If I do have to have a colonoscopy, how long will my down time be?

What is the treatment for hemorrhoids? I’ve never had any before.
Thanks elynne… I have actually had diarrhea for the last month and have had no difficulty with having a bowel movement. I will have to look into the benefiber if that is what it is. I’m not much of a fan of fruits.

I had a colonoscopy done because I was feeling nauseous and couldn’t keep my food down. The doctor thought it might be IBS. My insurance company agreed that this was a covered procedure as long as there is no pre-existing condition which there wasn’t. Now they are saying I owe them about 00 because the doctor found hemorrhoids and that is one of the items not covered within the first 6 months of me being insured. My question is, I didn’t go to the doctor because of hemorrhoids (I’m not bleeding or ever had any symptoms), I went because I was sick and couldn’t keep my food down. So how can they be denying the coverage when I didn’t even know that’s what they would find? Shouldn’t they cover you based on the initial visit diagnosis and the reason why you’re having the procedure in the first place? The doctor found internal hemorrhoids which 98% of us have – they’re benign and not a condition. They do nothing. The doctor says that was the diagnosis and the outcome of the procedure so that’s how they report it. The insurance company says, sorry, we told you hemorrhoids weren’t covered. And I’m wondering how it is that I went in for a supposed covered procedure because I was just sick in my stomach and came out owing almost 8K. Anyone ever heard of this?!?! I’m very concerned…

my husband had severe pain about 2 years ago and actually went to the hospital. At which they did x-rays that totaled over 10,000 dollars all to release him and say they were going to refer us to a urologist! wow!!
Anyhow he saw the urologist who said he just had an enlarged prostate and the only treatment was to either just tolerate it or have surgery. Anyone know much about this? Does that diagnosis sound right.
I ask because he has been having the same pain recently and we are trying to get pregnant, so I feel like he is double pressured and I don’t want him to be stressed :( oh, I read in a different post that prostate pain could be confused for hemorrhoids. Wasn’t sure if maybe he was misdiagnosed. The urologist didn’t take any x-rays only did a "physical exam"
THANK YOU!!!

My Urologist is saying I have Bladder Reflux (BR) and I need an Inter-Stim Pacemaker. After doing research I read that BR does not usually show any pain or outward symptoms but yet this Physician is in a hurry to default to this surgery and device. I am a survivor of Infantile Neuroblastoma (Cancer) and have a severely atrophied pelvis as a result of the cancer treatment. Recently I was hospitalized for severe abdominal pain (bladder area) and no urination and the "diagnosis" was Bladder Reflux which I say is BS. My take is it was either the ureter being pinched by intestines/colon in the smaller than normal pelvic area OR a muscle issue with pelvic floor or hip flexor (sp) muscles. ANY help or advice would be welcomed. I am definitely a unique case and I feel the doctors are ignoring my physical anatomy differences due to the cancer and just defaulting to the "easy" way out for them which more than likely isn’t the TRUE cause. H E L P, please.
