I was just wondering, in cases where bowel cancer is not hereditary, is it caused mainly by the things people consume or is it just luck of the draw? It seems to me that this type of disease and ones similar to it have only recently become huge issues in western society and my only guess is that it’s because people are consuming more and more unnatural foods every day. Like, all the people I know who have bowel cancer or something like it belong to families who are obese or do not eat properly. Call me a bitch, but is there not a point where they should take responsibility and realise that they have contributed greatly to their situation?

how rare is bowel cancer in children ages 3-16?

I am a 27 year old female, and have had Ulcerative Colitis for around 14 years. It has been untreated all that time as well, as whatever drugs i have tried to take never agree with me. I am worried i have bowel cancer, because i have read so many times that there is an increased risk of it with colitis. I have had 1 sigmoidoscopy about 4 years ago which showed moderate colitis. I do not want a colonoscopy, i have recently had an ultrasound which didn’t show any lumps or bumps or thickening of the bowel wall.

What can i do to get this damn disease under control, without being pumped full of drugs?

Today i went for a flexible sigmoidoscopy due to the fact of having abdominal pains reccurant diahrea and occasional bleeding. They said they found patches of inflammation in my bowel. Then the doctor asked me loads of questions like How often do you get diahrea? and How often do you have the bleeding? This has got me really scared. Can anyone tell me if the inflammation could be cancer? They took pictures and biopsys which they said would take 2-3 weeks to come back. I know very little about bowels etc so someones opinion would be very much aprreciated. I am 23 and have no family history of bowel cancer.
Yes i do suffer from alot of stress as i suffer with depression and panic attaks. Also they did say that there was one small pile up there.

i have had a change lately in bowel movements and stuff and i looked up bowel cancer becuase it was on TV and i had one of the sypmtoms. i went to the doctors about it and she gave me tablets for IBS spasms which kind of work i guess. these are the sypmtoms of bowel cancer and i’ll put a star* next to the sypmtoms i have.

Bleeding fromt he rectum* (only one tiny bit ONCE)
a change in your normal bowel habit (such as diarrhoea or constipation)*
unexplained weight loss
pain in the tummy (abdomen) or back passage*
a feeling of not having emptied your bowel properly after a bowel motion.
being sick (vomiting)
a bloated feeling

im so worried like mad !!! i dont get it becxause i eat really healthy and do plenty of exerisise and everything !!! and im only 14 !!!
i also looked up IBS and my sypmtoms also match that

is it likely that i have bowel cancer!!? ? ?
