So I have had painful hemorrhoids for the last month and the past few days one has been unbearable. I have an appointment Friday and was going to try and wait it out, but when I woke up this morning I just couldn’t deal with it anymore.. plus my 2 year old caught on that Mommy can barely move and is taking advantage. (I know this is gross, lol.) My husband looked at it and told me it looks black, which I’m guessing along with the excruciating pain means it’s thrombosed. I called L&D (I’m on a military base and things are different) and they told me to come in immediately… I am so scared. The thought of anyone looking at it is mortifying in itself but thinking about them poking at it is terrifying. I have a high pain tolerance but this thing had me crying today when I tried to get out of bed earlier so I am so scared about what they’re going to do with it, the pain is so very bad. Anyone have any experience or advice with this? I’m waiting for my hubby to get home and then I’m off.

I have constipation predominant IBS with occ. bouts of loose stools but mostly hard painful ones. Recently, the straining for the (lack) of bowel movement seems to have created an internal hemorrrhoid that pokes out during bowel movements and is causing a good deal of pressure and pain. I happen to be in an incredibly difficult time at work right now making taking off for a doctor’s appointment a last choice, although i could go to an urgent care after hours if i thought it would be best, and meant that I didn’t have to miss work tomorrow. What should I do? I’m on a very high fiber diet that includes both soluble and insoluble fiber and its done nothing, so please don’t start with the "more fiber" comments.

Since yesterday I’ve felt this pain in my butt I had my girlfriend look at it and she found a picture of what she said it looked exactly like, a thrombosed hemorrhoid, plus I was diagnosed with hemorrhoids; anyways, tonight while going to the bathroom it burst and there was blood in the water and all over the TP. Do I need to go to the Emergency Room? I already have a doctor’s appointment on Friday, today is Monday, do I need to see a doc before that? Is there a chance I could bleed to death if I don’t visit a doctor before friday?
The blood looks bright red but if i hold it on the wound long enough it looks similar to a bloody nose blood, keep in mind this happened maybe an hour ago.
How long did your bleeding last?

Sorry for the many questions on hemorrhoids!

So my doc’s appointment got moved back to next week to look at my PROLAPSED hemorrhoid. Till then I am helping my body in the following ways:

- Increase fiber + water intake.
- Avoid going to the john until the "urge" hits. Then I breathe in and out to help avoid straining. I use wipes.
- Adding bioflavoroids (sp?) to diet to strengthen veins.

After starting this home treatment, I notice that when I have "proper" bowel movements (no hard stools, little straining, quick and dirty), I see less blood in the toilet, and less blood when wiping. Also, my hemorrhoid goes back in quicker and easier(shrinking?).

Note: I said "when I have…" I try to have good bowel movements everytime, but occasionally I don’t get enough water, or fiber, etc.

As you may guess, I am not a fan of invasive surgery, hence the home treatment. I research a bit and found that high fiber diets do reduce symptoms, but take a while!

Am I going in the right directions?
P.S I am a college student, so surgery would hinder me a lot, but if it’s the only way, I guess I must.

Finally, for the medical experts/past experiencers, my hemorrhoid is not painful when it protudes, and when I contract the muscles, it goes back in smoothly. As my diet improves, the amount of blood on my feces decreases.

just curious, because as of late i have been having blood in my stools, and on my toilet paper. even a blood clot earlier today.. now i would go to the emergency room, however it is 30 miles away, and i hardly have any gas, and dont get paid til next thursday… so i made an appointment for friday.. and the only relative i have lives in mass.. and i live in wyoming… so thats why i havnt been to the doctor yet.. but i would like to know the symptoms of hemorrhoids, and possibly anything else it could be..
