The problem was painful, the operation I slept through. The recovery was "a pain in the ass" no pun intended. In general, don't do surgery if there is a reasonable alternative. He uses laser technology and treatments are done in the office. The brochure says it's relatively pain free. I do know that he accepts medicare. I will post a link to my doctors site and you can find some good info that might help you in finding what will work best for you. You have been having problems for some time, and it's probably time to get this issue taken care of.
