My dad has had diarrhea for more than 4 weeks – C. difficile?
I was wondering if anyone might know anything about how to treat this.
My dad came down with C. diff after being in the hospital for renal problems.
We thought his diarrhea was as a side effect to renvela a phosphate binder given for his dialysis treatment, but it he began feeling very lousy , brought him to the hospital, and found out it was C. diff.
He has been in the hospital for about 2 weeks, and his diarrhea has not gone. He was given vancomycin and today they changed the antibiotic. The color of his stool looks more normal.
He has developed hemorrhoids and cuts in his buttcheeks from the stools, as he has not been able to move to go to the bathroom and ended up going in the bed a lot.
I know about probiotics and I’ve been given him probiotic pills to him.
Anyone have any ideas about this? Also any ideas about the hemorrhoid and skin problems? (this bothers him a lot)
Thanks . Any ideas are appreciated greatly

Hello,
Antibiotics are very rough on the flora of the Gastric system you could try yogurt to restore
it .If you stll wish to keep on the Probiotics even tough nothing serious as of studies came out
yet you could buy the yogurt syle probiotics.About the other problem ,you could try babe wipes
yes I know it is no evident to transfer from toilet paper to this but the area hase to be kept clean and
moistured with a barrier cream, ask your pharmacist for the cream,
Reagards
Acidophilus supplements. And also try GSE. Grapefruit see extract. Go to your local natrual food store and ask about it. Or just buy it online and follow the directions. Nutribiotic GSE. 5-15 drops in water 3 times a day. Supposedly it kills the bad bacteria that is causing this symptoms.
Good Luck!
Antibiotics!!???!! Are they fricken stupid??
The antibiotics are killing the digestive bacteria in his large intestine….He should be off those….But if they dont have anything else to treat it, then he’s going to have to deal with it as a side issue to the C. Diff.
Dont stop giving him probiotics though, youre doing nothing wrong there.
Also, make sure he eats plenty of fruit in the morning and veggies throughout the day with Good carbohydrates meaning things like Ezekiel Bread and wild rice and Garbonzo beans etc.
Hope your dad gets well soon!!!
