What are the chances of me having bowel cancer?
I am a 21 year old guy who eats a generally healthy diet; I am a vegetarian. The other day, there was fresh blood in my stool, this has only happened a few times in my life. Apart from that I’ve been constipated now and again (but not an abnormally large amount of it). But apart from that, I feel fine, no pain or anything. What are the chances of me having bowel cancer? Thanks a lot!

Slim to none.
There is no reason to even consider it.
Highly unlikely. I used to have fresh blood in my stool, sometimes it looked like i’d had an injury!! Turned out to be haemorrhoids, which didn’t hurt but they did become itchy, sometimes they weren’t even itchy. I was frightened too.
Most likely you have hemmoroids. Consult a doctor to be checked. When you are constipated, constipation can make them worse, use a high fiber tablet or drink like Benefiber.
Very Slim. You sound like my Husband…and quite frankly, ME. It is just Hemmorids…the ones you can’t actually "Feel" are internal hemmorids, and from constipation makes them bleed. Once you become "non-constipated" they will heal on their own. I have lived with it, since I was 10 years old. My husband went for a colonoscopy because he can "paint the toilet red" with his blood…and he had nothing but a few small polyps, and internal hemmoroids. He is 46 years old.
For the relief of your constipation. Drink 1 mug of HOT Prune Juice, OR 10 Dried Apricots. (Don’t use them both together!) They are powerful on their own.
The younger you are, the less likely you are to have it, but there could be any of a number of other things, such as gastroenteritis. I’m 46, and they thought I was pretty young (usually people over 40 are more likely). If you’re having bright blood, it is something in the lower colon or rectum, probably not higher up. It may be hemmorhoids or a polyp. If you are concerned, go to a gastrointerologist and have a colonoscopy done. He will be able to tell what the problem is from that. The worst part of the colonoscopy is the day before. You’ll have to drink a gallon (yes, you read that right) of laxative over a period of about 4 hours, so be prepared to live in the bathroom for a while. You’ll only be able to have clear liquids that day, except red Jello (it looks like blood in the colon). They’ll put you under for the colonoscopy, so there’s no pain, and I didn’t feel any afterward, either.
