What causes hemorrhoids? Whats the best way to cure them?

   Hi Meshel.

   The principal reason for hemorrhoids are too much strain in the anus region. This can happen for many reason like heavy weight lifter, child birth for women, sitting for too long, sometime constipation, etc.

   You need first to correct the cause and combine this with an increase of fiber-rich intake like fruits and vegetables and make sure to increase your intake of water (by the way this will also help constipation problem for those with this problem), a more active lifestyle (maybe walking, hiking, swimming, etc.) and reduce your consumption of processed food.

   Hemorrhoids are caused by an increase of pressure in veins of the lower rectum. Maybe due to
   constipation, straining too hard due to hard stools, standing or sitting in one position too long,pregnancy or childbirth or heavy weight lifting.

   Be careful whose advice you take. Some of these answers about the causes are true (along with many other possible reasons). Most of the advice you will hear about "treating" or "curing" hemorrhoids is just going to treat the symptoms and not cure the cause.

   Causes:

   Straining too much, not eating enough fiber, pregnancy, constipation and diarrea, sitting down for long periods of time and anal sex. These are the main causes.
