It can be cancer, or possibly diverticulitis, or other conditions. I have Stage III colon cancer, and I didn't know until I had extreme pain and constipation (it turned out the tumor was so big it was blocking off my colon). You need to rule out everything. Irregular eating habits = iregular bowel habits. Changes to normal bowel habits with no explanation can sometimes indicate colon cancer. If in doubt, see a Dr and have a stool sample tested.
