So on top of everything I’ve developed an external hemorrhoid?
I’ve had so much going on these past couple days that I’ve now got an external hemorrhoid. I discovered it last night and overnight it went down in size by about 50% on it’s own. I’ve started doing sitz baths and that’s about it. It isn’t bleeding or anything but it is quite painful.
Anyone have any useful tips maybe some personal experiences with products that will help it go back down? And approximately how long do you think it could take for it to go down?
The weird thing is, it’s really NOT HANGING outside or anything, it’s ON the outside. Is that bad?

Prep H and something with witch hazel in it. A few months back I suffered from some RAGING roids because of some bad bowel problems, and I also used witch hazel wipes/pads. I feel your pain! It really depends on how much you’re straining or how much stress you’re putting on the roids while you have it in terms of it going down. Just don’t itch it or anything. It makes it worse, unfortunately.
Also – adited to edd: PROCTOFOAM!!! It works good and was prescribed to me by my Gastrologist. It’s a steroid in a foamy stuff. Apply it to your hemmorhoid and it burns for a little but it makes it feel much better.
And if you just had your baby, congratulations! I’m just a 15yr old, but unfortunately for me, I’ve had too many roids and too many bowel problems to count.
The best thing that you can do is go to a pysychian, they can give you the best diagnoses and treatment possibilities.
I have a thrombosed one myself. I’ve used a generic ointment and inserted it inside using an applicator that came with the ointment. That has seemed to get it go back inside, however, the two external ones I have will not go away. Thanks for asking this question. I’m going to see if you get any good answers. All-in-all we moms go through heck but we say it’s all worth it!
I had a problem about 7 months ago and it would not go away, it was inside and outside. He prescribed me some suppositoy called anusol, they have the cream also and it was very effective. I think you buy OTC ask the pharmacist. I had to wait a week in order to go away. If you don’t take care it would become worse. Put some rag with warm water as much as you can. If it doesn’t get better you have to see a doctor since you may have an infection.
I think the swelling will take it’s time to go down, so don’t worry about that. There is one solution which may sound a bit unorthodox, and I advise you to speak to your physician before doing this, is to push the haemerrhoid back in, which should sort it right out.
External hemorrhoids are visible outside of the anus opening. A thrombosed hemorrhoid is an external hemorrhoid which has formed a blood clot. Small external hemorrhoids typically do not produce any noticeable symptoms. Larger external hemorrhoids can be extremely painful and may interfere with cleaning the anal area after a bowel movement. Hemorrhoid pain can sometimes be helped when the individual sits in a tub of warm water for 10 to 15 minutes up to four times a day. Also, a cool compress or an ice pack can help to reduce inflammation.
