Get a good job with good benefits.

If you have hemorioids just soak them in hot water and get some preperation-H or other hemmerhoid ointment.

Start to get worried when it bleeds real bad.

Hi-
It would be easier to know if it’s urgent if you could list your symptoms; otherwise, I would suggest hemorrhoid cream and ‘tuck’s’ wipes, but I’m not sure if they’re over-the-counter. Also a high-fiber diet. If you have bleeding beyond very small streaks while wiping after having a bm it shouldn’t wait.

A doctor will tell you to soak in a hot bath for 20 minutes 3 times a day, increase your fiber intake, and apply a steroid cream, which they will likely prescribe. The majority of this you can take care of yourself. Try hydrocortisone or Prep H. This is provided you have external hemorrhoids. In the case of internal hemorrhoids (which bleed more/hurt less), you’ll probably need medical attention.

It could be just hemorrhoids if it is just bright red blood after a bowel movement. If you are having anal sex, it can cause this problem, and so can excessive straining when you poop. If the latter is the case, try using a stool softener in addition to Preparation H. If you have bloody diarrhea, it may be a more serious problem such as Crohn’s disease or collitis. You might check to see if there is a clinic in your area for low income residents to get treatment if it is serious. Good Luck Texas Lise
