Tips on stopping a bleeding hemorrhoid?
My husband has had hemorrhoid problems since he was 13 years old, but recently they have gotten worse. He only has one protruding externally from the rectum, but today while he was working (his job requires long periods of standing) and unknowingly by him (he didn’t know it until he got home and used the bathroom), it started bleeding. He bled so bad that his boxers were ruined. He’s now concerned about it happening again while at work, and that he won’t know until someone points out to him that he’s bleeding.
We have Preparation H Gel, and Tucks wipes. Do either of these help with the bleeding? Can anyone suggest anything else that we might be able to do?
Update: As of right now, the bleeding has stopped, but what if it happens again?
No, he hasn’t seen a doctor for this yet. I keep encouraging him, but he flat out refuses. When we got married, I finally was able to make him get a physical, because it had been over 10 years since he went to the doctor last! I really doubt he will go in to be checked… the pad idea is great, the problem is, trying to get him to actually do it. *sigh* men…. he is so stubborn.

The Preparation H reduces or eliminates the hemorrhoids, which will ultimately help with the bleeding. Has he seen a doctor for a prescription strength ointment for his hemorrhoids? He might have more success with that. I know this sounds ridiculous and possibly embarrassing, but you could lend him one of your pads to stick to the back of his underwear. That’ll help soak up the blood until he can get to a bathroom. If he’s bleeding this much, a doctor might actually be willing to operate on him to remove the hemorrhoid. Good luck. Hope he feels better.
