is there such a thing as bowel cancer?

   Bowel cancer and colon cancer are the same thing.

   The only way to know you have it is to see your doctor if you have symptoms; if s/he is concerned, s/he will refer you for tests.

   These are possible symptoms of colon cancer:

   blood (bright red or black flecks) or mucus in the stool

   changes in bowel habits (diarrhoea, constipation or both) which lasts more than six weeks

   the feeling of still having to go to the toilet even after having emptied the bowels

   pain or discomfort in the stomach area (colicky pain, cramps, or tenderness)

   unexplained weight loss

   extreme tiredness (this may be due to bleeding)

   a lump in the abdomen.

   ALL these symptoms may have other causes though (the most common cause of bleeding is piles); but you should see your doctor if you have any of them.

   The biggest risk factor for colon/bowel cancer is getting older; 80% of cases occur in people over 60.

   same as colon cancer, often no S&S until advanced, then will have bleeding in stool and abdominal pain, so screening colonoscopy advised for people >50

   The correct term is colon cancer, and it can affect a variety of areas of your intestines. The symptoms vary from the runs to constipation, bleeding, nausia…etc. The symptoms also mimic a variety of other conditions, such as IBS. A common way to diagnose this is with a colonoscopy.

   No such thing as bowel cancer! If you’re really concerned that something’s wrong in there, you should go see a doctor. if you’re having rectal bleeding or black tarry looking stool, you should defintly see someone ASAP!! If you are bleeding, you don’t wanna let it go for too long because it’s possible that there could be a bowel obstruction,or make you anemic. hope this helps! if you have anyother questions feel free to e-mail me ok.    Bowel cancer is known as Colon Cancer.
   These and other symptoms may be caused by colon cancer. Other conditions may cause the same symptoms. A doctor should be consulted if any of the following problems occur:

   A change in bowel habits.
   Blood (either bright red or very dark) in the stool.
   Diarrhea, constipation, or feeling that the bowel does not empty completely.
   Stools that are narrower than usual.
   Frequent gas pains, bloating, fullness, or cramps.
   Weight loss for no known reason.
   Feeling very tired.
   Vomiting.
