Hemorrhoids and pregnancy… =(?
Someone please help. LOL. This is my first time ever experiencing hemorrhoids and can I tell you I wouldn’t wish this on my worst nightmare. I just started using Preparation H, and I’m really hoping that is safe for the pregnancy? Pretty much everything I have researched online regarding it says it is safe? Also, I’m just wondering if this has worked for you? And also, please, how long will this last!? Thank you all for any insight!! It’s much appreciated!

I had the hemorrhoids from hell a few weeks ago (38 weeks pregnant). I was told that prep h was ok to use by my midwife but it didn’t seem to help much. Here’s a few tips that got mine under control.
Soak in a warm bath for at least 10 minutes a few times a day. If you are still working do it before you leave and before you go to bed. Try to do it after you have a bowel movement as it will help the burning and itching to go away.
Keep the area really really clean. Use tucks medicated pads, I keep some in a sandwich bag in my purse for when I’m out of the house. You can even keep some in the freezer, it feels great to put them on when they’re so cold. You can use them as a cold compress.
The midwife also told me that if any of them are poking out you can gently push them back inside with a finger and squeeze the muscles inside to help bring down the swelling.
Stop using toliet paper, use something softer like the tucks pads. Or at least wet the toliet paper before you wipe with it.
If you have a job where you sit, make sure that you’re up for at least ten minutes every hour walking around.
If you can, lie down on your left side to take as much pressure off them as possible.
Eat lots of natural fiber to soften your stool. I was told that the stool softeners you get over the counter can actually irritate the problem.
Don’t strain to poop for more than 3 to 5 minutes.
Drink lots and lots of water.
It took mine about two weeks or so to get under control. They’re still there but totally bearable now. I’m expecting them to come back with a vengeance after labor though….
Good Luck!
