I had a light case of hemorrhoids but i have external swelling,how do i get rid of it?

This is extremely common. You should not require surgical treatment based on your description.
Just cleanse the area as well as possible and use an OTC product like Preparation H which has the desired benefit of reducing swelling as well as soothing the area and stopping itch. I think you will find the irritation will disappear. If it does not after a few days, I would have it looked at in the unlikely case that you have a minor infection that may have developed. you might have to have a doctor trim it. but time and soft foods .. dont eat mexican hot food..
