Sure, it””s a dirty job, but some body part has to do it. The chore in question belongs to the rectum–a short, muscular tube at the bottom of the large intestine that gathers feces and stores them. To finish its task, the rectum passes things along to the anus. You know the rest of the story.
But there””s often an unhappy ending to this short saga. As many as half the people in the United States suffer from piles, or hemorrhoids. We all have small veins in the anal area, called the hemorrhoidal plexus. When these veins become abnormally swollen, they cause symptoms such as pain and bleeding.
Some hemorrhoids are external. They can be felt with a finger–and resemble soft swellings around the anal opening.

Hemorrhoids are usually painful raised places on the rectum/anus that sometimes can bleed.
Treatment: In most cases an ointment such as Preparation H can help with the pain until the hemorrhoid subsides, or the application of a Tucks pad/cotton ball soaked with witch-hazel and held in place for 15 minutes every half hour.
* In severe circumstances surgery can be done to remove exsisting hemorrhoids, yet does not prevent future problems.
Prevention: Do not lift/pull heavy objects if possible. If you are constipated do not try to force your self to defecate, instead take a stool softener by pill form or suppository form and wait for it to take effect before going to the bathroom.
Increase fiber in your diet, a 100% Bran cereal for breakfast, and adding vegetable and fruits to your meals and snacks, should be your answer to your hemorrhoids. Adding Omega 3 may also be helpful. Surgery can be an immediate solution. however if your diet does not contain enough fiber, the hemorrhoid will appear again. A diet that has 30% fiber, should be your best prevention. There are OTC treatments for hemorrhoids Preparation H is one of many that you will find.
sore itchy and annoying…. i have had them a lot … mostly during pregnancy.. but its not just constipation that causes them.. i get them with diarrhoea ( sorry bout spelling ) My advice to you would be to get some anusol cream … it releives itching and within 24 hours dries up the pile… if they are particulary sore try popping a damp sanitry towel in your frezzer.. then popping it between your legs .. the cooling action really does help..

Don’t sit on the pot for prolonged periods.
If your stools are hard take a stool softner.
