Burst external hemorrhoid. Should I go to the doctor to have it checked?
Up until yesterday I was suffering with some major hemorrhoid pain. It was diagnosed by my doctor on Thursday as a thrombosed external hemmorhoid, which he prescribed Anusol 2.5% and lidocane for. I applied the cream often, but it didn’t seem the help. The lump was pretty big, large marble-sized, and stayed solid. When I applied cream yesterday morning, the lump felt less solid and kind of squishy. Yesterday, about 4pm, I got up and smelled this rotted smell. I look down and my boxers and leg are covered in purplish blood. It burst. All the pain was gone within an hour as it drained; I kept it clean and used a cold, damp cloth pressed on it. Also, some thicker black blood came out on the cloth a few times. Now, as of today, it’s only draining VERY little. I have gauze with Neosporin on it between my cheeks, pressed up against IT. There’s very little pain unless I move the skin where it was when I check it. Should I go see the doctor again about it, or should I give it another day?

Go to the Doctor NOW!
I would go see your doctor. Chances are they’ll have something else to apply to your new open sore that will work better than what you have. In addition, you’ll want to talk to your doctor to get a more effective cream in case the pain comes back. What worked for me was a combination Hydrocortisone/Nitroglycerine cream. Anyway, good luck, and go see your doctor! The copay is worth it!
