Would you allow a doctor to look down there?
I have external hemorrhoid and whenever I go to toilet my anus starts hurting.
I will be going to the hospital tomorrow.
I’m kind of embarrased for the doctor to look down there. (natural).
Is it 100% certainty that the doc will look down there ?
I’m already taking a laxative, any other comment or advice will be APPRECIATED!!
Thanks

If you need medical attention, then by all means get it. You will not be the butt of any jokes, cheeky remarks or other cracks.
Yeah they are going to look down there and it would make me uncomfortable at first but yeah id be fine with it.
Don’t worry they have seen it all before. This won’t be shocking to your Dr. I’m sure they will be professional and you will be glad you went once it’s over.
Relax, doc’s have seen everything and they probably seen like 4 times before you.
The doctor won’t laugh, I promise. Put some 1% Hydrocortisone cream on it. Some people hate it, but witch hazel is cheap, burns for a second and then feels much better on hemorrhoids. Those will help the itch and reduce the size. As far as the doctor looking, it depends on why you’re going to the hospital. A rectal exam isn’t needed if you are having a mole on your shoulder reomved. Add fiber to your diet to prevent future problems. Good luck
I think this is something we all go though at some point or other. I remember feeling the same way the first time I was examined "down there" as well…and you know, after having it done 10 times or so, it’s still awkward, but less of a big deal.
I would suggest going to your primary care physican or establishing one who you can choose to be of the same sex (or opposite) and I think that will help (as opposed to the ER where yo get the doc du jour). If they are YOUR doctor and you develop a "relationship" with them over time, it is less awkward to have these exams done- and trust me, there’s many more of these (in various forms) instore for you in the future.
If it makes you feel any better, I hate doing rectal exams almost as much as I hate having them done to me. If I may be so blunt: It has nothing to do with being uncomfortable looking at peoples private parts because you see so much of so many people over the years, it’s just like looking at a leg or a neck- Just another body part…just wish stool wasn’t involved.
Finally about the hemorrhoids- as you probably know, they can be caused by straining with having bowel movements, so the first formost piece of advice I could give is to keep your stool soft. The best way to do that is to eat 5- yes FIVE servings of fruits and veggies daily, if even half the servings are raw, that should get you enough fiber to keep your stools soft so you shouldn’t need a laxitive- your heart and the rest of your body will thank you for the fiber as well. The other important part is NOT TO STRAIN. Relax, take your time, don’t push.
You can treat hemorrhoids with tucks pads and some hydrocortizone 1% ointment.
There are a few other medical "conditions" that hemorrhoids can be RARELY associated with, which your doctor can tell you about.
Good luck- and while your having it done, distract yourself by imagining the doc getting their bottom checked- it probably wasn’t done too long ago…=)
