Removing old, non-painful external hemorrhoid?
I have some excess skin around my anus that is not painful, and I don’t recall it ever being painful. It look a little bit like labia skin, except around my anus, about the size of a small peanut. I showed my doctor, who says it is probably a remnant of a very old hemorrhoid, and told me since is doesn’t bother me, the best course is just to leave it alone.
However….I’m pretty embarrassed by it with my current boyfriend (and partners in the past). Because I’ve had it all my life, I assumed everyone had it, lol. When I discovered they didn’t, it made me self conscious, especially as I engage in anal sex. I’ve never had any "complaints", but I would still like it removed. Any experiences with this kind of removal? How long does it generally take to heal? Does it make the anus look "normal"? What techniques are the latest and greatest? My doctor seems to consider this a cosmetic surgery, and as such, thinks my insurance probably won’t cover it. Thanks for any advice.

If the tissue is still alive you can tie a rubberband to it causing the blood to stop going there. it should then fall off when the tissue dies. It should not be painful. You can also go to a colon rectal specialist which is covered under you r regular health plan and ask him to remove it. Most likely you will need a referral from your regular doctor. Good luck.
