Embarrasing question about a high fiber diet….?
I have been following a low fat, high fiber diet and have had some great results. However, every afternoon I get pains in my stomach, which I know are gas from all the fiber. I am wondering if it is ok to take an over the counter gas medicine, like Gas-X for that, or can my body get accustomed to that? I dont want to change my diet because I finally found a way to lose weight without feeling deprived, but it can get real painful some days.

You can take charcoal capsules. They will absorb the gas, and you can take them on a regular basis.

Yeah or you can try beano. They both work very well.

change your meal plan.
i dont have a high fiber diet >.< i mostly stay away from carbohydrates.
Your body will adjust but it may take time. Gas-x, beano, mylanta or other such drugs will help with the pressure. Be sure to read the labels. Some meds, like rolaids, even have calcium and are good for you.
Time To POOP
Yes, that’s a common result of high fiber diets – you’re never told that high fiber diets can slow digestion to the point that the contents of your bowels begin to ferment. There are days when, being on a high-fiber diet myself, I produce enough gas to float the Hindenberg all over again. I’ve tried Gas-x and a couple other such over-the-counter remedies and found they don’t help. Exercise, on the other hand, particularly taking a brisk half-hour walk, often does get the gas moving along so I can expel it more quickly. Just don’t stand downwind when I do expel it – my toots can be classed as a weapon – a WMD!
