bowel cancer, can i physically help her?
FIRST THING NO NASTY COMMENTS! IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO SAY PLEASE LEAVE.
today i found out my grandmother has bowel cancer, she let it slip at my son’s birthday party, terrible timing because ended up whole family was in tears while we were getting ready to go home, anyways i dunno what to do but that’s not why i am here i know its shock that’s causing me to feel helpless but i’ll survive, I used to be a medical student but had to give it up hoping to go back to it, was wondering if anyone knew if there was any way i could physically help my grandmother, she’s only in her 60′s and i want her to have a shot i know with some cancers you can use blood cells and such to help treat the cancer, i was wondering if anyone knew if this was possible with bowel cancer, i am the only person in my whole family with the same blood type as my grandmother, the scary thing is only three people in my family have the same blood type, Me, My dad and My Grandmother, my father and grandmother both have cancer, my dad’s in incurable but he is unlikely to die anytime soon, but i know bowel cancer is SO much worse, i am wondering if there is any way that i might be able to help her from a donation of cells or something?
any help would be great.

Blood cells are not used to treat cancer. Bone marrow cancers are treated with bone marrow transplants and sometimes cancer patients they need blood transfusions, but not very often with colon cancer. There really isn’t anything you can do. It is not necessarily a death sentence her prognosis depends on the stage, the grade, what kind she has and how she responds to treatment. I see many colon cancer patients cured with colonoscopy or surgery alone.
