HELP! Constipation and hemorrhoid problems!?
I recently developed an external hemorrhoid a few days ago (July 11th) and I haven’t defecated since then. I’ve been eating like I normally would and I’ll be upping my fiber amount quite soon. I know I get enough water. I try sitting on the toilet but I just don’t feel like I have to go. I’ve been urinating as usual and my gas levels are above normal. I’m just worried about build up. My questions are these.
1. Should I try a laxative for the constipation?
2. How do I get rid of the hemorrhoid. I’m pretty sure it’s thrombosed. I’ve seen pictures of thrombosed hemorrhoids and read descriptions and that is what it looks and feels like.

It’s time for a laxative. Castor Oil or phosphosoda will be good for that. But don’t overuse them. Follow directions carefully- you wouldn’t want to develop dependence.
Get moving and start exercising. turn on the faucet while you defecate. massage your buttock cheeks. Your knees should be higher than your hips, this way you will follow the natural contour of your rectum and feces can go out easily.
As for your hemorrhoids, don’t worry, it will be regress in a week. Just don’t force yourself to defecate, your hemorrhoid might burst and bleed and you’ll need to have reduction surgery for it.

What works for me is First. TAKE A BATH WITH EPSIUM SALT ( don’t know how to spell that) but take like a few baths a day depending on the size of them …and SECOND. use witch hazel with a cotton ball and put it on it or them and let it stay there for a while and keep doing it, just did that for my husband and they are sooo much better ( swelling went down)…HOPE IT WORKS OUT!!!
ya you can try laxative though it’s a temporary remedy. But keep up this fibre diet. Everything will be alright.
Take a look at what you are eating and drinking as some foods and drinks do make you constipated, such as soda and caffeine and even banana’s. There are several different types of foods and drinks that can help with this situation. Fiber One makes some great stuff like cereal bars and wafers and Metamucil has laxatives in powder form. You can also drink prune juice or eat prunes (but most people don’t like the taste). It also may be that you have recently become allergic or your body cannot handle a specific food. I know I have eaten dairy my whole life but just recently I found that if I eat cheese or ice cream I get bloated and gassy. So take a look at what you eat and maybe try cutting things out one at a time to see what affects you.
As for the hemorrhoid, there are things like tucks pads you can use to help sooth it but other than that I am not sure what else you can do outside of seeing a doctor.
Hope you feel better soon.
You haven’t defecated in 18 days (assuming you meant June 11th and not July)? Honestly, I would go to your doctor. There may be something more going on than a hemorrhoid. S/he can do a rectal examination and see if there’s stool in the vault (rectum); if so, a laxative should be able to help. If there isn’t it could mean there’s a bowel obstruction or colonic impaction. If you have hard, impacted stool, I’d be worried that when you do finally manage to pass it it will rupture the hemorrhoid on its way out.
Also, if you’re thinking of starting fiber to prevent this from happening again (both the constipation and the hemorrhoids it causes), I would instead start taking stool softeners for a while and then build up to a fiber regimen.
