Is it hemorrhoids or what?
I had some rectal bleeding and I went to see my doctor. He said it could be hemorrhoids. However, he recommended I go see another doctor that specializes in that field. So,I went to see this other doctor. ANd he recommended I have a colonoscopy done to make sure it wasn’t anything serious. So, I did. And he claims everything is okay. However sometimes when I go to the restroom, I have some rectal bleeding. Is it hemorrhoids or what? The latter doctor did say i had a hemorrhoid; but, he did not give me any medication or anything like that. What should I do?

The doctor who did your colonoscope should likely be crossed off your list and never visited again. Hemorrhoids, both external and internal are within reach of the small finger and can usually be seen with the eye without any instrument or maybe with a small anuscope, without a bill for thousands of dollars for a colonoscope (which should be done in adults over 30 every 10 years). Since the second doctor said you had a hemorrhoid, he should have given you information about what to do in the future when you again see bleeding. There are options.
First, general info:
Hemorrhoids (HEM-o-roids), sometimes called "piles" are normally present in and around the anus and lower rectum, which is the lower portion of the digestive tract, that have become swollen due to inflammation, itching or painful mass of dilated veins in swollen anal. Hemorrhoids are similar to varicose veins of the legs. When symptoms such as itching, burning, or pain occur, it is important to find a prescription drugs or therapy for proper cure of hemorrhoids as soon as possible.
There are several other factors that can cause the medication emergence of hemorrhoids, and they are: Aging, bowel movements, constipation, pregnancy, and diarrhea.
Initial treating of hemorrhoids is aimed at preventing symptoms and It is important to see a doctor if you have any rectal bleeding.
Bleeding hemorrhoids treatment is never fast, but you can apply several methods to help your body heal faster.
First you have to soften your stool to avoid damage done to your colon by hard, pallet like stool. This will help damaged tissue to heal faster and stop the rectal bleeding, it is important for internal bleeding hemorrhoids as well as for external.
Avoid using paper, use moist wipes like Tucks, or better yet wash up after the bowel movement. This is specially important for external hemorrhoids as most of the rectal bleeding in this case comes from mechanical damage done by wiping, you could also try to use soft, cotton underwear.
Use suppositories and creams to sped up healing as well as for lubrication, it will help you pass the stool easier.
Good luck.
If you had a colonoscopy, then they should have ruled out anything else. If the doctor saw that you had one, then I would call that doctor back and ask what you should do to treat it. It depends on if it is internal or external. If it is internal, they will tell you what to do or prescribe you something for it
For me, I bleed often… I have a sensitive rectum and sometimes, what I eat causes movements that actually tear something while I’m using the bathroom…
I never ‘strain’ but still, sometimes I will feel a pain and know that I will see blood…
One time it was so bad that I almost went to the hospital because I was afraid I was losing TOO MUCH BLOOD… Yeah…
The doctor told me that as long as the blood is BRIGHT RED and looks fresh and healthy, there isn’t anything to worry about. It is when the blood runs dark that it means that it is a polyp that can mean a precursor to cancer…
Keep an eye on the details of what comes out of you.
As long as the blood looks healthy, don’t worry too much…
Is the blood bright red or dark burgundy in color? If it is a fresh, bright color then it is most probably hemorrhoids. The second issue is have you tried looking in that area? If you have external hemorrhoids it will be visually obvious – if they are internal, not necessarily. But I am really surprised that they have not given you a definitive answer as those are very easy to diagnose!!
Also, do you notice the bleeding only when you strain to have a bowel movement?Any constipation? Any recent body building or weight training? Could very well be hemorrhoids.
