My boyfriend has a huge hemorrhoid that is blocking his hole(ya know the hole) and he can’t pass his bowels because of it. What will help? Is it time for him to see a doctor?

Have him sit in a bathtub of warm water for ten to fifteen minutes. Afterwards, dry the hemorrhoid gently and apply over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream twice a day. There is a numbing ointment called Nuperainal that you can mix with the hydrocortisone (use equal amounts, mix well and apply). If this doesn’t help, then the hemorrhoid mey either be thrombosed (a clot in it that a doctor will have to remove in a simple office procedure) or it may not be a hemorrhoid after all – see the doctor if not improving. For the most part over the counter medications don’t work. They just suppress the problem and don’t attack the root of the problem. I had surgery to remove mine and they returned in about 6 months. I didn’t want to have surgery again so I tried this home treatment and it got rid of mine in about 3 days and they have not returned since.
